For Harland Brandon (MSc Biochemistry), enrolling at the U of L for his undergraduate education was an easy decision. Lethbridge, Alberta is his hometown. And although it was initially the convenience and affordability that attracted Harland to the U of L, he soon realized that it would be the world-class education and the opportunity to participate in hands-on research experience through the Co-op program that would keep him here for his Masters’ Degree.

Savvy students like Harland know first-hand that participating in Co-operative Education as an undergraduate is essential; not only for developing practical skills related to their field of study, but to make professional connections and build a resume that is competitive for today’s economy (not to mention those Grad School applications). Co-op sets you apart. So why should it end with your Bachelors’ Degree?

At the University of Lethbridge, Co-operative Education is now available to students pursuing a Masters Degree. There are exciting opportunities for Graduate students in science, social science, and humanities to work collaboratively with government and industry, to work directly with not-for-profit companies to develop solutions to real-world challenges, or to participate in cross-disciplinary internships. What better way to hone your skills, to make significant connections between your research and how it may be applied globally, or to network with world-renowned professionals and build a niche for yourself as an expert in the field?

“By participating in the Co-op Program at the University of Lethbridge, I have discovered a love of research that has led me to pursue my Masters in Biochemistry. The hands-on learning and access to world class leaders in the field of biochemistry as well as research opportunities provided me with an understanding of how things actually work and why. I’ve realized that a career in research is something I would be more than happy to do for the rest of my life.”– Harland Brandon, MSc (Biochemistry) candidate
