NorQuest CollegeNorQuest College’s goal is to ensure students are well informed about all available scholarship, bursary and award opportunities. On the College’s Scholarships, Bursaries & Awards page, students can access an easy-to-use search engine for available and program-specific opportunities. The page also features a downloadable awards booklet and application form. NorQuest’s student advisors are also available to help with awards-related information.

A uniquely NorQuest College awards opportunity, Shine is an employee-driven fundraising campaign that raises money to support students in a variety of ways.

Last year, for example, Shine contributed to the emergency loan fund, the assistance to students fund and the NorQuest College Learner Access Bursary.

An emergency loan is a short-term loan available to students experiencing delays in funding or unexpected expenses, who are having difficulty meeting essential living expenses.

Assistance to students' funds are non-repayable funds issued to current NorQuest College students who need assistance due to an unanticipated emergency and who are unable to repay an Emergency Loan. Students must have exhausted all other sources of funding before applying for Assistance to Students.

The NorQuest College Learner Access Bursary is available to self-funded learners (students not receiving any other loans, grants or bursaries) with expenses.

Shine also sponsors 44 awards of $300 each to deserving students and three bursaries of $500 each.

One hundred per cent of the money raised through Shine activities, which include book fairs, 50/50 draws, raffles and chili cook-offs, goes to NorQuest College students in need. More than $500,000 has been raised since the campaign started in 2001.

“Students are at the heart of everything we do,” says Dr. Jodi Abbott, President and CEO, NorQuest College. “In addition to being student-centred, Shine also demonstrates how our faculty, staff and services are committed to helping our learners meet their educational and career goals.”

Shine complements the wide range scholarships, bursaries and awards available at NorQuest. In 2011-2012, the College distributed $377,434 to deserving students.

These students are part of the NorQuest College success story. An incredible 95% of NorQuest students find employment or continue their education.
