Thomas Rivers UniversityThe best way to pay for university is with someone else’s money! Using scholarships and bursaries, many students will have their entire education paid for, and who wouldn’t want to go to school for free? Did you know that Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC gives away over one million dollars a year to new and returning students? One of these students could be you!

TRU hands outmore than $300,000 every year in entrance scholarships that can range from $1,000 to $20,000. The most prestigious award at TRU is the Ambassador’s Entrance Scholarship, awarded to students who show academic excellence, leadership and community service. They will have their tuition and student fees fully covered for four years (up to $5,000/year). Visit the TRU Financial Aid and Awards to learn about our other scholarships and to apply. If you are planning on applying for any of the TRU entrance scholarships, do so by the March 1st 2013 application deadline.

TRU also offers bursaries to students who may not qualify for scholarships but can show that they have financial need. These bursaries are not based on grades, leadership or community service and can be used towards tuition, housing, food etc. As a TRU student you can apply for bursaries after your first year of university.

The thing to remember about scholarships and bursaries is that you only have a chance at the free money if you apply! So get those applications in as early as possible and see what happens.

As you make your final decisions about university, keep in mind that the best way to learn more about scholarships and to see TRU is to come for a campus tour! Contact the TRU Welcome Centre with questions or inquires, or to arrange a visit to campus. Phone 250-828-5006, email tours@tru.ca or go to www.tru.ca/moreinfo.
