Humber CollegeIt’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of campus life once classes are done for the day – at Humber, there’s always something fun going on, whether it’s a meeting of the South Asian Beatz club or a foosball tournament in the student centre.

But what if you could have a great time and want to help others out? You don’t need a lot of money to make a difference – all you need is a little time.

Help people, get a little feel-good lift and give a boost to your resume by volunteering your time to help your fellow students or the wider community.

Humber offers a number of ways for students to volunteer on campus, including:
- Peer mentoring
- Peer note-taking
- Tutoring local high school students in Humber’s Homework Club
- Campus Walk
- Orientation Week

For a short-term commitment, Humber’s Alternative Spring Break program provides an opportunity for you to work with a community organization during Reading Week. This year, you can help out at Knights Table food bank, Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, and the Yonge Street Mission, helping a wide cross-section of Toronto’s needy population.

Past Alternative Spring Break initiatives at Humber have included travelling to New Orleans to build homes and to the Dominican Republic to help at an orphanage.

Whether on-campus or off, at home or abroad, volunteering is an ideal way to take campus life beyond the classroom and into the community.
