St. Thomas University

At St. Thomas, students and faculty are immersed in the study of people, cultures, history, and language. Studying can teach you a lot about the way others live, work, and play, but nothing quite exposes you to the world like seeing and experiencing different parts of it. Exchanges and travel enrich education and personal qualities.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to experience a different language, culture and educational system while earning academic credit, then an academic exchange may be for you. Taking a semester or a year to study abroad is an excellent way to enhance your St. Thomas degree, and it allows you to challenge yourself in ways you never imagined.

Exchange Destinations

Australia, Argentina, Chile, China, Japan, the Republic of Malta, Québec City, Sweden, or Texas.

Some education exchanges involve homestay, where you would be living with a host family in the exchange country. This is a great way to experience a new culture first hand; it goes beyond the experience of a tourist.

There are also many other ways to visit and experience other cultures during your degree at St. Thomas. Participating in Model UN will take you to Harvard to compete. For example, our Spanish Department offers a credit-earning experience in Avila, Spain and our Irish Studies programme has opportunities to travel to Ireland.

St. Thomas’s partnership with Intercordia Canada provides opportunities to spend three months working and living within a community in need while earning credit toward your degree.
