Brighton CollegeIf you’ve thought of studying abroad but are still on the edge, it’s understandable why you’re hesitating. Leaving your home and starting over in an unfamiliar setting can be intimidating; but it’s easy to change your frame of mind when you consider all the benefits of doing so. Here are 3 simple reasons why you should go for it:

1) Opportunity to travel
If there’s a part of the world you’ve always been interested in exploring, what better way to do it than killing two birds with one stone by studying there? If you’re close to other cities or countries, it’s a good idea to spend some weekends taking short trips to explore more too.

2) Opportunity to learn and practice a new language
There is no better way to learn a language than being exposed to it first-hand every day. Hearing the language constantly and having to speak it to get by is the fastest way to learn a new language and get better at speaking it.

3) Opportunity to explore a new culture
Living in a new culture allows you to explore new food, languages and norms, but you will also get a better understanding of beliefs, values and ways of life. Experiencing a new culture directly helps you truly understand where other people are coming from. You’ll likely return home with a less biased perspective toward other cultures and people which could be life changing.

As someone who has studied abroad, I would definitely encourage other students to go for it and overcome that initial fear of stepping out of your comfort zone. For more advice visit www.brightoncollege.com
