OISE at the University of Toronto: Preparing for an Application to Our 1-Year Teacher Education Program

For more than a century, OISE of the University of Toronto has offered teacher education. Our program prepares teacher candidates to become highly effective, skilled professional teachers who are committed to teaching excellence.

PREPARING FOR AN APPLICATION TO OISE
At OISE, we strive to keep prospective applicants and applicants as informed as possible. It is our hope that by assisting with current and future applications, we can help you to achieve your goal of becoming a teacher.

GET INFORMED
The most important step in preparing for an application is to Get Informed. The Bachelor of Education Admissions Guide is a great place to start your research. Make sure you read the section on Preparing for an Application for some helpful advice.

GET HELP
Another important step is to Get Help. OISE provides a variety of counselling services for applicants and prospective applicants to its teacher education programs.
Group information sessions are scheduled in the fall term at all University of Toronto campuses and on several University campuses across Ontario. We also offer an Information Session here at OISE. This year we hosted approximately 400 prospective applicants at our OISE Information Session. Make sure you plan to visit us at one of these events next year.
Alternatively, we also offer one-on-one individual counselling sessions. This is an opportunity for you to book some time with our Admission Counsellor and get answers to your specific questions. Individual counselling appointments are available by appointment from May to the end of August at OISE.
In addition, inquiries are always welcome by phone, e-mail, or in-person. We invite you to contact us anytime throughout the year – we are happy to help you in your goal to becoming a teacher.
