Rhodes Wellness CollegePost secondary education, as everyone knows, is a huge investment. It is important to find the right school and the right program. Many of us are unduly influenced by parents, guidance counselors, friends and other factors when choosing this most important investment. Few of us look beyond the obvious large post-secondary institutions.

There are however, many smaller schools with specific programs that may be more suitable to your own interests and talents. Good schools will have career counselors or career assessment tests to help you assess your own suitability. One young woman decided she wanted to be a dentist and made her way through dental school, only to find herself feeling miserable on the job. When she took career assessment tests years later, it turns out she would have been more suited to a career as an accountant. She loved numbers and the relative quiet of an accounting office, rather than the bustle of a dental office.

At Rhodes Wellness College, we often have middle-aged students arrive because they’ve impulsively trained for a career that someone else suggested many years ago. These students spent many years feeling trapped and unhappy in careers that did not suit them, but are thrilled to finally find a place to use their sensitivity and people skills. Just take a look at these testimonials from our past grads.

So before filling out any applications – know what’s right for you and have a clear idea of the path you are about to embark on. Then as you start the process get some assistance in filling out the application forms and personal statements. Make sure to have someone look it over and most importantly – write from your heart.
