Thompson Rivers UniversityThe first step towards attending university is applying for admission, and Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC believes in making this process as easy and inexpensive as possible. Using an online application that’s the same for all students across Canada, TRU requires only basic information about you and what you want to study, and charges only $26.00, also payable online.

Depending on the program you are applying for, that may be the only information required, other than your high school grades. If you are applying for admission to first year university degrees in Arts, Fine Arts, Business, Science, Computing Science or Tourism, then TRU wants your Grade 11 final marks and your current Grade 12 interim, or final transcript of grades.

With this information, TRU can offer admission to these first-year degree programs within a matter of weeks; unlike institutions that use selective processes that keep students out, TRU believes that high school graduates who want to attend university and have the basic English and Math requirements should have the opportunity to do so.

Not every TRU program has an admission process as easy as this, including two highly selective programs of note, Nursing and Animal Health Technology. However, the vast majority of programs that are open to direct entry from high school have very straightforward admission requirements. From Early Childhood Education to Resort & Hotel Management, high school students can apply to these diploma programs now, and secure their September 2013 admission long before they graduate next spring.
