The Entertainment Industry: It's What You Know AND Who You Know

The film and television industry in Toronto is booming, with 1.13 billion dollars spent on Toronto productions in 2011 alone. But like many industries, breaking in and finding success is as much about being talented and educated as it is about having the right contacts. Luckily, The Toronto Academy of Acting for Film and Television has you covered on both fronts!

Recently recognized as an official Private Career College, the Film Acting School has a long history of attracting students from all over the world to study film acting, including Malaysia, Germany, Switzerland, England, Italy and the US. We offer a variety of specific acting courses that include Commercial Acting, Method Acting, Auditioning and more. New this year, we are launching our vocational career program, a four month full time Essentials for Film and Television Acting program, which will cover one year’s worth of training in an intense four month curriculum. The goal is to give students the tools they need to succeed in this competitive industry in a relatively short period of time.

And our relationship with our students doesn’t end upon graduation. The Toronto Academy of Acting is proud to be one of the only schools to package each student’s scenes into a professionally edited demo reel. Students are then introduced to our vast network of film directors, producers and casting directors. “We never wanted to be the type of school to treat our students like numbers,” says Academy founder and president Susan Burych. “We want to find people who are passionate about acting, nurture them, and do everything we can to ensure that our homegrown talent shines”.
