Starting University can be an exciting life experience, but for some students it can be an intimidating event. The Orientation team at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC is here to help make the transition to University life easy!

First year students have the chance to attend Orientation and Jump Start. Jump start is held every year over the September long weekend. For students who don’t want to endure long line-ups associated with the first week back to school, they can take advantage of the Jump Start event! Services for students such as the Cashier, Academic Advising, The Welcome Centre and Financial Aid and Awards will be open longer over the weekend to help students get organized before classes start.

Orientation offers students the opportunity to become familiar with the TRU campus, meet and greet the professors, interact with peers and enjoy a free BBQ!Last year over 1,100 new students gathered in the Tournament Capital Centre for Orientation and this year we are hoping to have even more attend this year’s event.

Before students arrive at TRU for the long weekend, there are a number of things to be done for the start of the semester such as; registering for classes, accessing their MyTRU account and paying tuition. The new student checklist can help guide students through what still needs to be done!

Students who are looking to start University this September, TRU continues to accept applications throughout the summer and admits students as space permits. Visit www.tru.ca/apply, to apply to TRU for just $25.50. Contact the TRU Welcome Centre with questions or inquires, or to arrange a visit to campus.
