Student success is at the heart of every program and service at Seneca. For this reason, the college recently conducted a fundraising campaign entitled “Campaign for Students” which called upon Seneca and the larger community to support students in financial need.

Every contribution received before March 31 was matched at least dollar-for-dollar through the Ontario Trust for Student Support. The campaign with matching funds raised a total of $3.3 million in new money for financial aid.

Fundraising events held throughout the campaign included bake sales, book sales, bowling tournaments, raffles, penny drives, a walk-a-thon, a curling bonspiel, a carnival and a charity hockey game.

In less than six weeks, the Seneca community put together 20 home grown events of every shape and size, which raised a total of $19,510.

In addition, 276 faculty, staff, alumni and students made individual donations during the campaign.

Every dollar raised through campus events, and employee, alumni and donor contributions went directly toward establishing a new student endowment, with awards being distributed equally across each Seneca faculty.

Financial awards are usually awarded on the basis of academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, financial need and special circumstances for specific groups or individuals.
