For aspiring students interested in a pursuing a career in veterinary medicine, St. George’s University (SGU), offers the MedVet Summer Leadership Academy, a unique opportunity for secondary school and college students who want to stand out among their peers and become future leading veterinarians.

Beyond the Classroom
On a campus that covers the beautiful True Blue peninsula of Grenada overlooking the Caribbean Sea, this exceptional academy has balanced a challenging academic program rooted in SGU’s nearly 35-year history with extracurricular activities selected to highlight the culture.

St. George’s Vet Academy teaches students in ways no textbook can. It’s a combination of lectures, group problem-solving sessions, practical lab work, and hands-on training through simulated and real-life leadership situations. SGU’s breathtaking campus includes state-of-the-art laboratories, a 45,000-square-foot library, athletic center, food court and cafeteria, and plenty of fun in the sun.

Under the guidance of the Academy’s knowledgeable staff, students take part in field trips to local clinics, hospitals and businesses. Additionally, veterinary students learn at the University’s on-campus small animal hospital and ride along with local veterinarians on farm visits.

Learn About Veterinary Medicine and Leadership
College students will also learn how public health and the business of veterinary medicine are shaping today’s most important health care issues. Drawing upon St. George’s University’s global expertise, CEPH-accredited Public Health program, AVMA-accredited Veterinary program, and MBA program, students will participate in special case studies focusing on international health care systems, global public health, and how the concept of “One Health, One Medicine” impacts health care delivery throughout the world. It’s a foundation of knowledge and skills that can give students an important advantage when looking for future employment.

Your Future as a Medical Leader Begins This Summer
Learn what it takes to be a medical leader at a university that has trained over 10,000 doctors and veterinarians practicing worldwide. High school and pre-veterinary programs are 10 days, while college preveterinary programs are 12 days. All programs include food, housing, and transportation to and from the airport in Grenada. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and a completed application with deposit payment is required to reserve your spot.
