For those considering post-secondary education, financial assistance can itself become a subject worthy of study.

A scholarship is a sum of money awarded to a student, based on academic achievement, to help defray educational expenses. The selection of the recipients is determined by the criteria established by the donor and approved by the College.

(By contrast, an award is a prize given in recognition of a student’s academic achievement, and a bursary is financial support provided to a student based on financial need.)

With a diverse population of more than 18,000 full-time students and over 36,000 part-time registrations in over 170 programs, Algonquin College offers extensive, flexible learning options and highly skilled, well connected professors.

Following a pursuit of academic excellence, Algonquin provides a wide range of relevant, targeted scholarships — from Project Hero (co-founded by General (Ret'd) Rick Hillier) — to programs sponsored by the Women’s Business Network.
