In the next few months as acceptance letters come in the mail, students will be making their final decisions on where they will be attending university next year. With this decision comes the realization that education is no longer going to be free. Some students will have university paid for by generous family members; others will have been saving for tuition since their first part time job. Some students may not be so prepared and have to rely on scholarships, bursaries, or financial aid through student loans.

Thompson Rivers University offers a comprehensive range of programs to assist students in locating resources to cover basic educational costs and to recognize academic excellence. All of these programs are administered through the Financial Aid & Awards Office.

Last year, TRU Financial Aid & Awards handed out 1.4 million dollars in student awards, including $300,000 in Entrance Scholarships. With average program costs including student fees being approximately $4,350/year, students have numerous resources to cover this low educational expense. All awards, including the TRU Ambassador’s Entrance Scholarship (covering full tuition and fees up to $5,000 per year) have an annual deadline of March 1st. Student Loans are also available by visiting www.studentaidbc.ca and are a great way to pay for or supplement the cost of attending university.

TRU is a comprehensive university, offering degrees, diplomas, certificates, and post-graduate programs in many different disciplines. Visit www.tru.ca to learn more and apply today!
