Established in 1999, St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, is an innovator in global veterinary medical education, with over 600 graduates practicing worldwide. The School offers a wide array of scholarship options for hopeful veterinarians, some of which can reduce students’ tuition by almost 40%.

St. George’s University offers scholarships for academic excellence and/or financial need to both entering and returning veterinary students. The School’s Office of Financial Aid determines the award based on the recipient’s academic excellence, the degree of the family’s financial need, as well as each scholarship’s specified criteria.

Veterinary students may receive the Legacy of Excellence Award (partial tuition awards for students who demonstrate sustained academic excellence), the Veterinary Mentor Scholarship (scholarships for students who have been recommended by a practicing veterinarian who believes his or her protégé has shown academic excellence), the Decade of Excellence Scholarship, automatically awarded to accepted students with 1075 or higher on the GRE and 3.3 or higher on both their science and undergrad overall GPA, Geoffrey H. Bourne Scholarships, Congress of Italian American Organizations Scholarships, Stephen R. Kopycinski Memorial Scholarships, the Morris Alpert Legacy of Excellence Scholarship, and William M. McCord Scholarships (all named for and honouring early leaders of St. George’s University), Grenadian Scholarships (specific awards for Grenadian students), and International Peace Scholarships (partial grants-in-aid to promote a diverse student body).

The application deadline is always December 1st for the student class commencing in January and July 1st for those commencing in August.
