Once you have decided where you want to go to college, how to finance your education often becomes the next big question. There are many options available to assist you with financing your future - you just have to look.

As an Ontario College student, you may apply to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) for financial assistance. In order to be eligible, you must be a Canadian citizen, hold permanent resident status or hold protected person status. Assistance is awarded in the form of loans funded by the Federal and Provincial Governments, Special Bursaries and Child Care Bursaries. You may also be eligible to participate in the Ontario Work Study Program to assist you in financing your education.

Alternatively, there are many bursaries, scholarships and awards that you may want to consider. In general, Scholarships are given to recognize the high level of excellence a student has achieved in his/her studies while Bursaries are allocated predominantly on the basis of financial need.

Many of these awards have been established for students in different circumstances and in various programs throughout the College.

For example, Karen Mason who worked for Seneca College for many years and also studied at the College throughout her life established a $65,000 endowment with her husband Ross, to establish a bursary. It will be awarded to students in computer studies programs who demonstrate academic achievement, are returning to Seneca College the following semester, and demonstrate financial need.
