Tyndale, like every other university, has a great frosh week. Students get to participate in a week of games, canoeing and outdoor fun away from the city. However, you aren’t going to university for frosh week. Frosh week is only the calm before the storm of readings and papers. Here are three tips to help you survive your first semester at university:

1.  Avoid the post-frosh funk – After frosh week’s fun you might get the idea that university is all fun and games. Squash that idea like a bug. University is a great chance to have fun and meet new people, but it is also a lot of work. If you don’t focus on that work, it will pile up fast.

2.  Consistency is the key – Some first year students work really hard in the first couple months then burn out, and some slack-off early on and then try to catch up. Both groups end up struggling come exam time. Your best bet is to set reachable goals for reading and homework. Set aside a minimum amount of time per day and always follow through.

3.  Take advantage of university life – Most people only go to university once, if at all. So take advantage of it. Do your best, work hard, join a club, try to get involved in student council, participate in sports and make as many friends as possible.

These tips should help you survive, but Tyndale University College can help you thrive. Come find out more about Toronto’s Christian University and apply today.
