Once you’ve made a decision about what to study and where to study it, it may be hard to imagine doing anything else. But if your first choice for your education and career path hasn’t panned out, you may want to explore other programs that relate to your chosen field.

For example, if you had your heart set on becoming a pilot, but find yourself looking for an alternative, you could consider other programs that lead to careers in aviation, like Seneca College’s Aviation Operations diploma and Aviation Safety advanced diploma. These programs teach students about meteorology, flight planning and dispatch, emergency planning, accident investigation, and safety management and prepare them for a range of careers in the industry.

While you might be discouraged by having to change your plans, now might just be the perfect time to reassess and explore what other options are available and may even be a better fit for you.

Maybe you have been planning to pursue a degree since you started high school and now find yourself seeking out a program that offers both a theoretical and hands-on education. A college degree might provide you with the well-rounded education you want. For example, Seneca College offers 12 bachelor’s degree programs in everything from Human Resources to Software Development and Child Development. All of these degrees include a mandatory co-op placement and the opportunity to work with industry partners on applied research projects.

There are multiple paths you can take to ultimately achieve your goals. Many college programs are still accepting applications. Consider calling the registration office of your local college to find out what options are available. There are so many possibilities, and your perfect program and career might just be a mouse click away.
