Established in 1999, St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, is a leader in veterinary medical education, with over 500 graduates practicing worldwide. St. George’s offers scholarships for academic excellence or financial need to entering and returning veterinary students. The Office of Financial Aid determines award recipients based on academic excellence, the degree of the family’s financial need, and each scholarship’s specified criteria.

As applying for scholarships is often a daunting task, here are a few helpful tips to make the application process go smoothly.
  • Make sure you’re eligible. Be sure to read all scholarship requirements before moving forward so you’re certain you meet the eligibility prerequisites.
  • Get involved. Scholarships are often awarded to students active in school organizations, so join a sports team or a student club, as it’s sure to give you a higher probability of receiving an award.
  • Consult with a school financial advisor. Students seeking scholarships should consult their school’s financial advising department to address any questions or concerns before beginning the application process. Counselors in St. George’s University Financial Aid Office are available to students for an honest discussion about the commitment and resources needed for the scholarship application process.
St. George’s offers a wide array of scholarships, some of which can reduce tuition by almost 40%. Students may receive the Legacy of Excellence Award (partial tuition award for students who demonstrate academic excellence), the Veterinary Mentor Scholarship (for students who have been recommended by a practicing veterinarian), the Decade of Excellence Scholarship, the Geoffrey H. Bourne Scholarship, the Congress of Italian-American Organizations Scholarship, the Stephen R. Kopycinski Memorial Scholarship, the Morris Alpert Legacy of Excellence Scholarship, and the William M. McCord Scholarship (all named for and honoring early leaders of St. George’s University), Grenadian Scholarships (awards for Grenadian students), and the International Peace Scholarship (partial grant-in-aid to promote a diverse student body).
