January 18, 2011 (Hamilton, Ontario) - The Canadian Institute of Dental Hygiene (CIDH) is proud to announce that it has signed an articulation agreement with the Open Learning division of Thompson Rivers University (TRU-OL) in Kamloops, British Columbia.  With this agreement, CIDH graduates will have earned approximately 2 years of credits towards a Bachelor of Health Science or a Bachelor of General Studies from TRU-OL.

“CIDH is the only private accredited dental hygiene program in Ontario who has signed such an agreement”, said CIDH Dean and President Donna Demarinis.

CIDH graduates accepted into TRU will have the option of completing their degree at one of the university’s campuses or online from their home community.

“This partnership and the way TRU delivers its courses will allow CIDH graduates to complete their degree at the same time as they are employed as Registered Dental Hygienists. For many working professionals, this is the best option for them as they embark on a career characterized by continuing education”, said Demarinis.

“We are very pleased to have this agreement with CIDH”, said TRU-OL’S Don Poirier, Director of Strategic Partnerships.  “It offers CIDH graduates the opportunity to build upon their existing knowledge and build full careers.”

“CIDH is the first and to date only private dental hygiene program that we have an articulation agreement with and this speaks to the quality of their program and their graduates”, he added.

CIDH is currently accepting applications for its Diploma in Dental Hygiene Program that will begin on August 15, 2011.
