Since the time you could speak, you’ve probably been asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Of course your ideal career path may change over time, but taking the steps to acquire that dream job shouldn’t.

Brescia University College knows the first stepping stone to gaining your dream job is gaining an exceptional post-secondary education. But while you’re completing your four-year university degree, Brescia offers programs and initiatives that help in students’ job searches.

Here are the steps that Brescia suggests you take, to snag your dream job once you’ve completed a degree.

1) Research. If you want to become a doctor, dentist, or teacher, a four-year degree is just the beginning. Each of these career paths requires graduate studies. It’s important to know, early on, what courses and volunteer opportunities will help you get accepted into these graduate programs. Brescia University College’s academic advisors are pleased to speak with all students about program choices and will help you carve your own path.

2) Volunteer. A degree is great, but a degree and volunteer experience in your career field is better. Gain as much experience as you can to help boost your resume, whether it is with The Circle, Brescia’s Student Council, or our R.E.A.D program. Volunteering also helps you make valuable networking connections with professionals in your desired field of work.

3) Ask yourself, “Where can my degree take me?” Brescia’s career services centre offers The me program to help guide you to a career path that’s right for you. The me program is a unique student-centred approach to career counselling and career exploration.

4) Explore workshops. Brescia offers many workshops to help you prepare for the work world. Get advice on how to build an exceptional resume, or ace your interview with Brescia’s workshops.

Starting your career search should be an exciting experience. Get all the experience, knowledge, and advice you can and in no time you’ll land your dream job.
