The “back to school” buzz of September and October has started to fade. While some of your friends might be finishing up mid-term exams, perhaps your plans to study this fall didn’t pan out as expected. Just because you didn’t start a program after Labour Day, doesn’t mean the year is a write-off in terms of education.

Many post-secondary schools offer programs that also begin in January, giving students more options and greater flexibility when it comes to their studies.

A number of Seneca College programs are still accepting applications for the winter semester, including the eight-month Accounting Techniques Ontario College Certificate. This program is ideal for people upgrading their skills, embarking on a second career or high school graduates looking to start their accounting careers in a relatively short period of time. Graduates of the program will earn four of nine courses required for a bookkeeping designation granted by the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping.

In addition, there are a number of business programs that are still open to students for the coming semester, including Business Administration – Management, Business Administration - Financial Planning, and International Business.

If you are more technologically minded, there are a number of programs that can help you further develop your strong suit. Seneca offers degrees in Software Development and Informatics and Security as well as several programs in the School of Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology that are still accepting applications for January.

There are many options available if you are hoping to start off the New Year with a new educational path. Consult your local college or university to find out which programs start in January and start applying!
