It’s the night before that major exam and you’re up cramming, surrounded by empty coffee cups. You know this isn’t the ideal way to study, but what’s the alternative? Centennial College has a wide range of resources to help you study for tests, write cohesive essays and wisely manage your time.

Start with the library. Beside helpful books and other literary works, the library also provides help in avoiding plagiarism, applying APA and MLA styles, research and writing tips and more. Apart from the library and its resources, students should keep in mind that great essays begin with an outline and time management. Most times, an A-worthy 1,000-word essay is not written in an hour. Therefore, grab a planner (they’re usually offered at the beginning of the school year) and fill it with deadlines and exam dates. It’s also a good idea to program important date reminders into your cell phone.

Another key tip is to study with other people. It’s often said that you can be sure you know the topic if you can teach it to someone else. Therefore, join a review session and learn by interacting with your peers. If you prefer having just one study partner, try booking a tutor. A tutor provides the opportunity to study with someone who has already taken the course and can offer advice and his or her own study tips.

By taking advantage of Centennial College’s study resources, you’ll say goodbye to the late-night cramming sessions.
