So, you’ve been accepted to University.  Congratulations!  What’s next?  The first step to becoming a successful student is to attend orientation.  At the end of May UWindsor offers the Head Start Program and this year over 1200 first year students and their families participated.

At Head Start, students have the opportunity to interact with upper year student volunteers, finalize their course registration with support from their department, and get the essentials including; purchasing a parking pass, getting a student card picture taken, and activating their webmail accounts.

For students are unable to attend Head Start, they can attend a half day orientation program called Summer Information Program (SIP), offered throughout the summer months.  For part-time or transfer students, we offer August Orientation on August 23, 2010, a program that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of this student population.

Prior to the start of classes, the UWindsor hosts Windsor Welcome Week (September 5-11, 2010); a week jam-packed with activities and events to help new students get connected to the University.

Once classes begin, students are encouraged to take advantage of the programs and services offered.  The Educational Development Centre runs both the S.T.E.P.S. (Skills to Enhance Personal Success), and Campus Life Line programs.

Students can attend presentations on study and learning strategies, health and wellness and involvement opportunities.  Some of these opportunities include the S.O.S. (Student’s Orienting Students) program and the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance (UWSA) where students can lead, join or create a club or society.
