Its summer – time to take a break from the textbooks, the lectures, and the assignments in order to enjoy the sunny weather and make some money! At U of T Scarborough our Academic Advising and Career Centre (AA & CC) offers many services for students that help to make summer enjoyable and profitable.

Employment Fairs
The AA & CC holds a variety of fairs throughout the year allowing our students to discover summer work, volunteer, and internship opportunities on campus, in Toronto, and even abroad! These fairs often happen in January because many employers hire their summer students by March. Students can speak with representatives from a variety of different organizations and even hand out their resumes!

Employers and volunteer organizations from all around the world come looking for U of T Scarborough students to fill their summer positions at the International Opportunities Fair held in January. International opportunities are a great way to enhance your resume and to experience what the world has to offer by living and working somewhere new. You can teach English in China, volunteer to help out schools in Peru, or learn how to pick up small jobs while backpacking across Europe!

Seminars and Workshops
Seminars and workshops like “How to Find Work”, “Interview Techniques to Land that Job”, and “Winning Resumes and Cover Letters” help U of T Scarborough students improve their job-searching approach in order to get them the perfect job. Our career advisors and counselors are always available to help students narrow down their job options and consider new opportunities.

Work-Study
For those looking to study all year round, U of T Scarborough is the only U of T campus to offer summer Work-Study, a program that allows our students to take a full course load and work part-time on campus at the same time. The jobs are either academic or career-related so students can explore career options and gain valuable experience at the same time.

Jobs are posted online at the beginning of the summer session (May) and our students can browse jobs that span a variety of areas: you could be an Art and Archaeology Research Assistant, do Leadership Development video production for the Department of Student Life, or work for the Department of Biological Sciences as an Aquarium Research Technician!

Whether you’re looking to study, go abroad, or stay at home for the summer, the Academic Advising and Career Centre at the University of Toronto Scarborough is here to meet your summer work needs!
