While many take the arrival of warmer days as a sign to take a vacation, you may want to look at the months ahead as an opportunity to focus, get experience and learn something.

Whether your educational plans for the coming fall haven’t worked out as hoped, you’re looking to give yourself a competitive advantage, sharpen your skills, or explore your interests and boost your CV at the same time, the summer months can be the ideal to get ahead. For example, if you are interested in Journalism, Seneca offers an intensive 14-week Journalism Broadcast Summer Institute that is ideal for students with a great desire for storytelling, news, sports, weather and entertainment information. It allows students to gain the practical and theoretical knowledge to pursue further education or obtain positions in the field.

Whether you are preparing for a new path or starting out your plan B, there are many educational options available to you right now. You may want to look at a workshop on how to speak in public without fear, a literature course on something as off-beat as Cannibalism in Literature or an accounting program to beef up your math. Summer courses offer you the opportunity to boost your foundational skills in order to improve your chances for success in the months ahead; take a credit in the summer to lighten your upcoming course load or free up your schedule for a part-time job in the fall.

There is no need to wait until the fall; there are multiple paths you can take to ultimately achieve your goals, in school over the summer.
