Ever wonder how people end up where they are, and how they figured out how to get there?
Earning a degree is one thing, but gaining real work experience through the Co-operative Education Program can really point you in the right direction. Read more…

Not sure what kind of career you want? Through the Co-operative Education program at TRU students are gaining career-related work experience before they graduate, increasing their chances for success in post-graduate job or educational pursuits.

Co-operative education (or Co-op for short) is an educational program in which students alternate between academic semesters and semesters of paid, off-campus, work experience related to their field of study.

The primary benefit of participating in the co-op program is that students gain a better understanding of potential careers in their chosen field.  Networking with employers is another bonus, not to mention the additional references on a resume upon graduation.

New in 2010, students in the TRU co-op program will also earn course credits for work terms.
Depending on the program, TRU co-op students typically complete three to five work terms throughout the length of their degree.

Co-op job postings can be local, regional, national, or even international.  TRU Co-op Coordinators work with hundreds of partner employers and support students in successfully landing a co-op job, by preparing them with resume writing skills and mock job interviews.

Examples of recent TRU student co-op jobs include communications officers, junior biologists, account analysts, computer programmers, field assistants, and sales analysts.

TRU offers Co-op in the following programs: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Natural Resource Science, Bachelor of Tourism Management, Bachelor of Computing Science, Computing Systems Operations Management Diploma, and Architectural Engineering Technology Diploma.
