We know attending university can be financially demanding. The University of Guelph-Humber in Toronto recognizes that students work hard for their money and their grades.To reward students for their hard work, the University offers numerous scholarships and bursaries to assist students with financing their university educations. An astounding $1.6 million in awards were given to University of Guelph-Humber’s small community of 3,000 students in 2009.

Getting into university takes hard work, so all newly admitted students are automatically considered for Academic Merit Entrance Scholarships. Simply by achieving a final average of 75% or higher, students automatically get $1,000 - $4,000 off their first year’s tuition, no applications or extra work required.That’s a lot of free money just for working hard in school. In 2009, 80% of incoming students received entrance scholarships. In 2010 this could be you.

The University has additional support for incoming students through Need-Based Entrance Scholarships and Student Profile Scholarships. Need based scholarships are awarded to students based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.

For those students who are involved in the community and are great leaders, the Student Profile Scholarshipis for you. Valued at $500, itis awarded to 20 new students who submit a profile. All you need to do is brag about how great you are.

We know that budgeting and paying for school isn’t easy, but with a little help you can do it. Financial counselling is offered through the University to assist students with financial planning and budgeting tips to help students live within their financial means.

After completing only one full-time year at the University of Guelph-Humber, you are eligible for even more free money throughin-course bursaries and scholarships including Merit Scholarships, Student Leadership Scholarships and many others.

Many students plan to work while they are at school, and the University can help you here as well. There are numerous work-study position available at the University of Guelph-Humber in areas such as student life, recruitment, athletics food services and residence.“Having a job on campus through work-study is really convenient,” explains third-year student Andrene Sterling.“I'm able to make some money, meet other University of Guelph-Humber students and I know my school schedule will always be accommodated.”
