Why are scholarships, awards, and bursaries the best way to fund your post-secondary education?

Because you don’t have to pay them back!

At George Brown College, one of our students received an award valued at $3,000 per year, renewable for three years, for a total of $12,000.00.  It would have taken about two hours to do a great job on the application.  That’s $6,000.00 per hour!

In comparison, it would take about 80 weeks, or just over one and a half years to make that much money with a part-time job, assuming 15 hours a week at $10 per hour.  Even working full-time for the same rate, it would take you thirty weeks.

So given the obvious and compelling reasons for applying, why don’t more students do so?  Probably because a scholarship search can be overwhelming.  There are so many awards, for every conceivable applicant, that it’s difficult to wade through them all to locate one that’s right for you.

Our Student Awards Office can assist you in finding awards, scholarships, and bursaries that are a good fit, and assist you with the application process.  Please visit our website at   http://www.georgebrown.ca/financialaid/06awards.aspx.  Overwhelmed?  Just click on and fill out the “Need some Help?” link in the top right corner, and a Financial Aid representative will contact you to provide individualized assistance
