Did you know that Trent University invests the most in scholarship funding per capita of any university in its category in Canada? In the past year alone, 27 new bursaries and awards were established.

Trent’s diverse scholarship program fosters and rewards academic achievement at a number of levels. Bursaries and awards are also granted to students with documented financial need and satisfactory academic standing.

Highlights of Trent University’s outstanding and comprehensive scholarship and awards program, include:

Free Tuition for 90%+

At Trent, it pays to be a high achiever. If you have an admission average of 90% or higher, your first year of tuition at Trent is free!*

A scholarship, equivalent to the cost of tuition, is available to you if you are:
•    a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
•    attending Trent directly from a Canadian high school and have never attended a post-secondary institution;
•    entering with an average of 90% and above for the 2010-11 academic year; and
•    registering at Trent as a full-time student

Maintain an average between 80%-89.9% in five full credits, or equivalent, each year you’re at Trent and you will be eligible for renewal at our standard scholarship amount. Maintain an average of at least 90% in five full credits, or equivalent, each year you are at Trent and your full tuition scholarship will be renewed for a total of up to four years' free tuition.

Prestigious Entrance Scholarships

Trent University's most prestigious scholarships, the Champlain Scholarship, the Board of Governor's Leadership Scholarship, and the Trent University Special Admissions.

Scholarship are awarded to Canadian students entering their first year of study. Recipients of these scholarships are students who have displayed exceptional academic and extra-curricular achievement and are likely to have a significant impact on the life of Trent University.

The Champlain Scholarship has a value of $5,000 in the first year, and $5,000 in each of the succeeding three years providing that scholarship standing of 80% or more in five full credits or equivalent is achieved each year. Two Champlain Scholarships are awarded each year. Total value over four years of $20,000.

The Board of Governors' Leadership Scholarship has a value of $4,500 in the first year, and $4,500 in each of the succeeding years providing that scholarship standing of 80% or higher is maintained in five full credits or equivalent each year. One scholarship is awarded each year. Total value over four years of $18,000.

The Trent University Special Admissions Scholarship has a value of $3,750 for the first year and $3,750 in each of the succeeding three years providing that scholarship standing of 80% or higher is maintained in five full credits or equivalent each year. Ten Special scholarships are awarded each year. Total value over four years of $15,000.

Scholarships and Awards for International Students

Trent University awards more international scholarships than any other university of its size in Canada.

The Trent International Program offers a limited number of highly competitive renewable scholarships to students eligible for admission who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada. These scholarships range from $4,000 to $100,000 over four years and are based on high academic achievement, community and/or international service and an assessment of financial need.

In addition to full and partial scholarships, international students entering Trent University with an academic average of 80% or higher (Canadian equivalent) may be eligible to receive Renewable Entrance Scholarships of up to $3,000 per year.
