There is no question applying to university can be overwhelming – it comes down to researching your options and reading your application packages carefully to ensure you don’t miss anything.

At TRU, there are three different types of admissions processes depending on the program.

Open Admission programs -  Bachelor of Arts, Science, and Business Administration degrees.  If you are lacking any of the admission requirements for these programs, you are still eligible to enter first-year.  During your first year you would complete any missing high school course requirements by upgrading through TRU’s University Preparation department.

Students who apply to these three programs need only send the $25 application fee with their application, and ideally their high school transcripts, although these may be submitted at a later date.

March 1st is the Early Application Deadline; April 30th is the Regular Application Deadline; applications are accepted until early September (with course availability as space permits).

Limited Admission and Selective Admission programs only have a limited number of seats and therefore applicants MUST MEET ALL admission requirements (or expect to meet, if in grade 12) in order to apply.  Limited Admission programs are first-applied, first-admitted (for qualified applicants); Selective Admission programs select from the total pool of applicants using set criteria.

Students who apply to these programs must send $25 with the initial application, and are then sent Admission Requirements packages instructing them to send any further required documentation.

Generally, March 1st is the Early Application Deadline; April 30th is the Regular Application Deadline.  Exceptions to note are the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (January 15th) and the Animal Health Technology Diploma (February 15th).  Specific deadlines for Limited and Selective Admissions programs are firm.

Those who want to apply to Limited or Selective Admission programs who do not meet the admission requirements may opt to complete the necessary upgrading courses first, through TRU’s University Preparation department.  In this case the student would apply to the U-Prep program.
