Applying to Overseas Schools

If you’re planning to study at a university overseas, you may find that the application deadlines, admission requirements and course pre-requisites are quite different to Canadian universities.

In Australia, for instance, most universities run two semesters each year with intakes in February and July.

The exception to this is Bond University on the Gold Coast in Queensland. As an international university, they cater for students coming from the northern hemisphere by running three full semesters annually, with intakes in January, May and September.

The September start-date means that Canadian school-leavers can commence their university studies right after the summer break, at the same time your friends are starting their university courses in Canada.

As an added bonus, the tri-semester timetable means that you can finish your degree much sooner. Most Bachelor degrees can be completed in two years (six semesters) and a Masters in one year (three semesters).

For Canadian students, Bond’s application process is very easy: You can apply online by downloading an application form from their website at www.bond.edu.au or you can arrange to meet with one of their representatives in Canada and lodge your application in person.

There are no application costs and their deadlines are very flexible. You will, however, need to allow time to arrange for a Student Visa.

If your application is successful and you decide to accept your offer of a place, Bond’s Admissions Office will email you a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) which you will need for your Student Visa application.

The local Canadian representatives can help you with the visa process or you can contact the university’s Admissions Office online for assistance.

Making the application process even easier, Bond recognises the Provincial High School Diploma and Ontario Secondary School Diploma with a minimum 65% average on five OAC subjects.

You can find out more about the wide range of degrees available at Bond and their world-class facilities by checking out their website at www.bond.edu.au.
