With a number of tuition-credit incentives, unique learning opportunities and experiential activities, Lakeland College’s Open House 2009 will have much to offer people looking to begin their college or university studies.

The event is being held at the college’s Vermilion campus Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 9 am to 4:30 pm, and at the Lloydminster campus, Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 10 am to 6 pm.

During the open house, visitors will be able to explore Lakeland’s applied degree, diploma and certificate programs as well as options for university transfer and degree completion routes. High school students, parents and community members will be able to chat with instructors and students, participate in interactive and hands-on sessions and tour campus classroom facilities and residences.

Also open to visitors will be numerous labs and classes on a range of subjects such as aquatic organisms, animal radiology, interior design, elementary math solutions, and Aristotle’s influence on today’s world.

For people and high school students looking to begin a program of study in the fall of 2010, a number of special offers will be made available during the event. Anyone who applies to the college during the open house will have the $65 application fee waived. People participating in a guided tour will be eligible to win a $1,000 tuition fee credit, and two lucky visitors (one at each campus) will win an LG Voyager 2 phone.

“We are very excited to be able to host visitors to our campuses during the Open House event,” says SarahJayne Stoop, recruitment advisor and lead organizer of the event. “Visitors to both of our campuses are certain to find something that will capture their interest whether they are looking to begin their post-secondary educational studies or looking for a career change.”

College mascot Rowdy Rustler will be wandering around campus greeting visitors.
