We are excited to announce a few new light summer courses to promote health and overall well being. It's been a long winter and our bodies tend to hold a lot of tension from the experiences of life throughout the season...

The following courses are designed to help stimulate your body and mind, to refresh your spirit for the summer!

Morning Workshops: STARTS July 6th and is ongoing until August 21st.

Students can choose 10 of any of the following four classes listed here to build their own receipt for summer wellness...

  1. Guided Meditation
    Mondays, 7:50am to 8:50am

Meditation involves focusing the mind in order to increase awareness of the present moment, promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance personal or spiritual growth. Mindfulness is characterized by calm awareness of one's body functions, feelings, content of consciousness and consciousness itself as they occur within the mind.

In this class the philosophy, psychology, and science underpinning the technique of Mindfulness Meditation will be explored from Eastern and Western perspectives. Understanding and overcoming common obstacles and difficulties will be emphasized along with suggestions for helping to entrench a daily practice. There will be a guided group sitting into silence followed by a question period to address your direct experience.

  2. Mindful Breathing
    Tuesdays, 7:50am to 8:50am

Breathing is essential for life yet most people breathe in a constricted and inefficient way. Good breathing habits help regulate the nervous system, promoting relaxation and a calm, positive mental outlook. This class will guide students through simple exercises to retrain their breathing, enabling them to breathe naturally: deeply and slowly from the abdomen. One immediate benefit of natural breathing is enhanced body awareness, and classes will engage this awareness to help students locate and dissolve areas of physical or emotional tension in their bodies.

  3. Morning Yoga
    Wednesday & Fridays, 7:50am to 8:50am

Yoga is a practice of self discovery.  By balancing strength with softness in your body, you will feel the ease with which your movements flow from your breath.  Learn techniques for linking to your breath, and poses appropriate for your body.  This class is open to all levels of practice and experience.

  4. Qi Gong & Meridian Stretches
    Thursdays, 7:50am to 8:50am

Come and practice a series of simple but profound exercises that promote self-healing, relaxation and enhanced body-mind awareness. These exercises are drawn from a variety of Japanese sources, and involve the use of breath, posture/movement and mental imagery to enhance the circulation of vital energy (ki) in the body. Students will develop an awareness of ki and will learn to work with it in skillful ways for the purpose of self-healing.
