People always say that you should have plans and back-up plans for your future. If you now find yourself in a position to be exploring your Plan B and you have always been interested in science, mathematics or technology, don’t fret. If your plan to attend a general science, biology or chemistry program isn’t in the cards, there are many opportunities to build on your strengths in more targeted programs leading to specific, high-demand careers.

You may want to consider Seneca’s Biotechnology Technologist (Research) or Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs and Quality Operations (Co-op) programs. The Biotechnology Technologist (Research) program prepares students for careers in research laboratories of university, hospital and government institutes, as well as in the research and development areas of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The program also boasts a 100 per cent graduate employment rate.

The Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs and Quality Operations (Co-op) program prepares graduates for careers such as Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Documentation Administration and Medical Information Associations. This program also has a 100 per cent graduate employment rate.
“The knowledge and skills that students gain in these programs, prepares them to step directly into the field, with hands-on experience already behind them,” said Laurel Schollen, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science an Engineering Technology.

There are multiple paths you can take to ultimately achieve your goals. And if you find that you don’t have the requisite science and mathematics courses to gain entry into a specific science/ technology based program, Seneca’s Applied Science and Technology certificate gets you the credentials you need in only eight months.

Many college programs are still accepting applications.  Consider calling the registration office of your local college to find out what options are available. To check which programs are still accepting applications, visit ontariocolleges.ca or call 1-888-892-2228. There are so many possibilities, and your perfect program and career might just be a mouse click away. So don’t think of that rejection letter as a closing door, think of it as an opportunity to get more creative in your search for a path to your goal.
