The high quality of programs at the English Language Centre in Victoria, Canada, has recently been recognized with two national awards.

In February 2007, the ELC's Home Placement Program was awarded the Canadian Language Council's Lynn Howes Award for the "excellent service and support" it provides for ELC students and host families. The Home Placement Program has 20 years of experience providing international students with the opportunity to learn more about Canadian culture by living with host families while studying at the University of Victoria. On average, Home Placement places 1000-1500 students with local families each year.

In March 2006, the ELC received the award for "Outstanding International Program" from the Canadian Association of University Continuing Education for its "English Work Experience Program." This internship program allows students in the ELC's 12-week Intensive programs to develop their communication skills through a series of employment preparation workshops and a full-time professional work term.
