Entering college for the first time means many new experiences. From learning the layout of the campus, buying your books and making new friends, it can feel like a whole new world. One new experience that you might not have considered is applying for a scholarship or bursary. That little extra financial help could make your transition easier.

Financial awards are usually given on the basis of a combination of academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, financial need and special circumstances for specific groups or individuals. At Seneca, there are a variety of awards open to students of all walks of life.

For example, the Seneca College Teaching Masters Association Bursary is awarded based on financial need to sole support parents who are registered in any full-time post secondary program. The award provides $400.

The Marie Labatte Award is offered to a female who has assumed a leadership role in student government or has participated as a volunteer in community-related activities. This award provides full year tuition and is open to students in any full-time diploma or certificate program.

If you are returning to school as a mature student to upgrade your education, the Max Silver and Milton Brody Memorial Award is offered to those with demonstrated academic achievement. Applicants require a high GPA and could be awarded $500.

Scholarships and bursaries at Seneca are awarded for a variety of different reasons, and you may be eligible for any number of those awards. To find out more, visit,  http://www.senecac.on.ca/registrar/financialaid/scholar.html.
